The journey of public welfare is marked by those who watch over and assist one another

1. At the corner of love, you encounter the PTA Café and the Parent Volunteer Group.

The PTA Café at BIBA is more than a place for food and relaxation; it's a platform for community engagement and compassion. The café was initiated by BIBA parents to meet the needs of teachers and students for refreshments, with its design inspired by the ancient Chinese imperial palace's corner towers. Any surplus from the café goes towards community public welfare projects. In 2023, over 500 parent volunteers participated in community services and public welfare activities, with 57 working at the café to provide delicious drinks and healthy food. The procurement of supplies, such as cakes from a disabled enterprise run by a welfare institute, reflects a commitment to social responsibility and the cycle of love. During BIBA Day, the PTA introduced special lattes, symbolizing the spirit of the event.

2. The public welfare activities of BIBA students are like dandelions blooming in the wind.

The graduates of BIBA Class of 2024, including Ethan, Molly, Katarina, and Gerry, are all passionate about public welfare and charitable angels.

Ethan, a meteorologist, founded the non-profit meteorological website "Dapiya" during his high school years, providing rich and accurate meteorological cloud maps and detailed forecast data to over a hundred countries worldwide for free.

Molly initiated the "Rural Library" project in her ninth grade, establishing a book and clothing donation point at BIBA to spread knowledge and warmth to children in her hometown.

Ethan founded and operated a non-profit meteorological website during his secondary school years. Since its establishment over two years ago, it has provided free access to a wealth of colourful climate cloud maps and extensive, detailed forecast data to hundreds of countries worldwide.

Molly, who underwent surgery for hip problems as a child, always wanted to help children who needed leg surgery. She combined music with public welfare projects and organized charity concerts in collaboration with a children's charity fund, initially inviting 20 performers and over 60 audience members. The concerts grew in scale, attendance, and fundraising as the charity event became more well-known, helping more and more children.

Katarina produced and aired a documentary about children with cerebral palsy, and she continued to collaborate with the child on music. Her involvement in public welfare and charity is influenced by her family's values and legacy. Katarina's mother was one of the founding members of the early PTA, and her efforts are reflected in the PTA Café and Dr. Pang's workshop. Katarina's mother is a core figure in the BIBA community with deep feelings for it.

Gerry, who repeatedly read the novel "The Autobiography of Van Gogh" in middle school, admired Van Gogh's act of helping others as a pastor. Starting from the fifth grade, Gerry assisted a seventh-grade classmate, Jeffrey, in establishing a community English tutoring public welfare activity, teaching English to children from working families. The activities included thematic classes and one-on-one reading tutoring, lasting one hour each weekend, and during summer vacation, they organized a five-day English summer camp at BIBA. Gerry participated in the tutoring for five years from the fifth grade to the eleventh grade, which aligns with the family's core values of kindness, benefit to others, self-reliance, hard work, self-acceptance, and perseverance.

From Year 5 onwards, Gerry co-founded a community-based English tutoring initiative with his peers, providing English lessons to children at migrant worker schools.

Gerry participated in library establishment activities at 14 rural kindergartens under the Little Oak Community Centre between Years 4 and 7.

The most encouraging words from Dr. Pang to the parents are to let their children climb different mountains and develop diverse abilities. He emphasizes that BIBA students are climbing mountains every day. For example, the first mountain is academic subjects and grades, fostering academic ability; the second mountain is developing interests through activities, establishing ideals and life goals; and the third mountain is becoming a contributing member of society through public welfare services, helping oneself, the family, the community, society, the nation, and the world.

The world is infinite, and charity connects all. BIBA advocates integrating public welfare into daily life and climbing the mountain of public welfare with perseverance.

When the light of charity shines upon the world, it reflects the joys, sorrows, happiness, and bitterness of people. During moments of darkness, what is most anticipated is a ray of dawn. A trivial act of kindness can inspire the strength to overcome difficulties; a small act of benevolence can illuminate a dark valley. The public welfare gene of the BIBA community aspires to be like the sun, shining brightly even from afar, to light up your path.
