Empathic Cinema for BIBA Community

BIBA IB Film Studies program invites the BIBA community: parents, students and their friends to the Empathic Cinema Potluck Picnic and Film Screening Friday, September 23. The event will begin at 5:00pm and end around 8:00pm. The potluck picnic will take place adjacent to the gym near the Confucian Temple.

Empathic Cinema is a student led film festival that promotes the voices of young people to express their views of the world around them. The students collaborate together dividing the tasks of outreach, promotion/marketing, curating, programming, and event planning.

The films you will see at the picnic are all made by young people ages 12-21. Through our outreach using social media we have curated films from as nearby as BIBA and BCIS and as far away as New York. The films are a range of genres from documentary to drama to experimental and focus on social/ environmental issues.

Our aim is to not only raise awareness around global issues, but inspire others to take action to make a difference. At Empathic Cinema audiences will have the opportunity to help us raise money for our Empathic Cinema 24 hour fast which will raise money for an NGO helping others combat human rights abuses.
